Lingholm Jetty

Stop for Lingholm Kitchen and Walled Gardens, well known for Beatrix Potter.

This jetty was built in 2016 following the opening of the Lingholm Kitchen and Walled Garden. The original kitchen gardens were well known by Beatrix Potter in the 1880 and 90’s when she regularly spent her summers at Lingholm around the time she was writing her early The Tale of Pater Rabbit stories. In a letter to her publisher she credited the Lingholm Kitchen Garden as her original inspiration for Mr McGregor’s garden. Newly laid paths lead from the jetty to Lingholm. This jetty is currently closed. To visit the Lingholm estate, take the Launch to Hawse End, then take the path through the woods 15 minutes walk to the north. Return to Hawse End to take the Launch back to Keswick.
